Puff Candy


Ingredients
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbls golden syrup
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda


Instructions
Bring sugar and syrup to boil in a pan, stirring all the time. Boil for 8 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in bicarb quickly. Pour into a well greased tin and cool. Break up when cool and store in an airtight jar.

Is this the same stuff as cinder toffee? The stuff in the middle of the Crunchie bar?

Yes I think it tastes just the same. Though it does have to be eaten quickly as it tends to go gooey fairly soon.

Thanks for sharing this Shirl, I'm in the middle of test driving your macaroon recipe (potato cooling as I type). I'm going to make little love heart shaped ones for my wedding favours.

However, my mum will be getting this as a favour instead because she loves it & complains it's hard to find puff candy, I never realised it was such a straight forward recipe.

You say it goes gooey soon, are we talking hours or days?
